Kitana, who made her first Mortal Kombat appearance all the way back in 1993, has been confirmed to be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11. This doesn’t exactly come as a surprise as most were expecting the Mortal Kombat legend to make an appearance anyway, but it’s still nice for it to be confirmed.
All Mortal Kombat fans should know Kitana’s backstory by now, but if you don’t, here’s the blurb from the games developer, NetherRealm:
“The 10,000-year-old princess of Edenia grew up believing she was Shao Kahn’s biological daughter and served as one of his deadliest warriors. When Kitana learned the truth, she fought against Shao Kahn’s attempted conquest of Earthrealm, eventually dying in battle. After being resurrected as an evil revenant version of her former self, Kitana now rules the Netherrealm alongside revenant Liu Kang, dedicated to the destruction of all the realms.”
We’re yet to see any gameplay of Kitana, but she’s likely to play in a very similar way to before with maybe a couple of changes to her moves. You can watch some gameplay of hers from Mortal Kombat X below:
Kitana is just one of the many characters that have already been revealed for Mortal Kombat 11, with other confirmed characters including the likes of the legendary Sub-Zero and Scorpion. There have also been some brand new characters revealed including Cetrion and The Kollector (they like changing C’s to K’s, don’t they?).
Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release this month, on Tuesday 23rd April for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
