Critically acclaimed dark-fantasy action game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, is getting a Nintendo Switch release this Spring, it was confirmed during tonight’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice tells the story of Senua, a “broken Celtic warrior who must embark on a haunting vision quest through Viking hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover” while simultaneously battling her own mental illness. Developed by Ninja Theory, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a dark, tormenting game that combines elements of several genres including hack and slack, horror, and puzzlers.

Originally released for the PS4 and PC in 2017, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice received critical acclaim and won numerous awards, including several BAFTA’s. It was eventually released for the Xbox One in April 2018, and is currently available to play through the Xbox Game Pass. As it’s often so dark and disturbing, Hellblade isn’t the type of game that would normally find it’s way to a Nintendo console, but I’m delighted to see that Switch owners won’t have to miss out, although I do hold some reservations about how well the Switch will run it.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will release on the Nintendo Switch this Spring.
