Hellblade II announced for Xbox Series X

Ninja Theory has announced a sequel to their critically acclaimed dark fantasy action adventure game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. It’s called Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, and it’s coming to Microsoft’s Xbox Series X.

The game was announced by way of a teaser trailer at The Game Awards 2019, and you can check it out below. Just to warn you, it’s bloody terrifying, so don’t watch it if you’re easily freaked out:

As you can see, the game looks gorgeous, particularly the water at the beginning. It’s always easy to write off trailers such as this when none of the footage shown is gameplay footage, but Microsoft promises that all of the footage was captured in engine, showing off the true power of Microsoft’s new console, which they describe as the “fastest, most powerful Xbox ever.”

There’s no release date for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II as of yet, but it would make sense for it to drop early on in the Xbox Series X’s life, but we’ll have to wait and see if it ends up being a launch title. We also don’t know for sure whether the game is an Xbox exclusive or not, but given the fact that Microsoft purchased Ninja Theory back in June it’s highly unlikely that Senua’s Saga will make an appearance on a PlayStation console, unlike it’s predecessor. It is likely, however, that the game will also make its way to PC.

We’ll keep you updated as and when any more information regarding a release date or other platforms becomes available. For now, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will release for the Xbox Series X on a currently unspecified date.
