Gears of War 4 and Forza Motorsport 6 headline August’s Games with Gold

Gears of War 4 and Forza Motorsport 6 will headline the free offerings for Xbox Live Gold members during August, Microsoft has announced.

Gears of War 4 was first released back in 2016 to good reviews, with critics praising the games combat and visuals. The game, which is the first mainline entry in the series not to be developed by Epic Games, will be available to download for free for the entire month of August, which is perfect for players who need to catch up on the last installment ahead of the release of Gears 5 on Tuesday 10th September.

If you prefer racing over fighting off hordes of alien enemies then fear not, as the critically acclaimed Forza Motorsport 6 will be free to Gold members from Friday 16th August until Sunday 15th September. Forza Motorsport 6 released back in 2015 and was lauded for its visuals, attention to detail, and realistic racing. Of course, Forza Motorsport 7 released a couple of years back if you’re the kind of person who likes to play the most up-to-date entry in a series, but you’ll have to fork out some of your hard-earned cash for that privilege.

On the Xbox 360 side of things, action-RPG dungeon crawler Torchlight will be available to download from Thursday 1st August until Thursday 15th August. Torchlight 2 is being ported over to the Xbox One on Monday 2nd September, so this is a perfect chance to get yourself in the mood for some hack and slash if you aren’t already. 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will also be available to download on the Xbox 360 side of things from Friday 16th August until Saturday 31st August. As always, both titles will also be available to download and play on Xbox One via backwards compatibility.
