Fortnite’s Chaper 2 Season 1 has been extended and will now end in early February 2020, Epic has announced.
That represents an extension which is just shy of two months, as Chapter 2 Season 1 was originally planned to end in mid-December. In announcing the extension, Epic said:
“With a new year comes new beginnings! Last year we celebrated 14 Days of Fortnite over the holidays. This year we’ve got even more content for you to unwrap, including new game features, free rewards and a live experience that you won’t want to miss. To prepare for all the new holiday-themed updates, we will be extending Chapter 2’s first season into early February. Get ready for winter!”
As you can see, extending Chaper 2 Season 1 will allow Epic to prepare for the games Christmas events, which will now be incorporated into the current season. Although Epic has given no specifics, players can expect “new game features”, “free rewards”, and a “live experience that you won’t want to miss” over the festive period.
The delay does make sense – Epic usually give their staff a couple of weeks off over Christmas, so setting a big update live and starting a new Season right before the festivities begin is probably a bad idea. Delaying the beginning of Season 2 until February will mean that Epic will have all hands on deck should there be any teething issues or any quick fixes that need sorting.
Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 2 will now begin in early February 2020. Epic didn’t announce an exact date for when Fortnite’s Season 2 will begin, but we’ll keep you updated as and when that information becomes available.
