Call of Duty: Modern Warfare patch nerfs the 725 again

Another patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gone live on all platforms, and it includes yet another nerf for the 725 shotgun.

Specifically, the nerf has made another small reduction to the guns base weapon damage range, a significant reduction to the damage range added by attachments, an increase to the weapons hip spread, and a reduction to effective damage at the hip. It’s another big nerf for the weapon which has been consistently overpowered ever since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched, and Infinity Ward can’t seem to get it right, with this being the third time that the shotgun has been nerfed already. Hopefully this will finally get the weapon nicely balanced, but I’ll have to wait and see how it performs with these changes before I can pass judgement. The Model 680 has also had a damage range reduction with all range-extending attachments as part of this patch, but the AUG has had a slight buff, with an increase to close range damage and an increase to mid damage range.

The rest of the patch is aimed at bug fixes, with the standout fix being for a really annoying issue in Ground War where the game would force you back in to the Select Loadout screen when you were trying to spawn back in. This has happened to me countless times and it gets very annoying very quickly, so it’s good to hear that Infinity Ward has finally sorted it out. There’s also a fix for an exploit which allowed players to duplicate their killstreaks as well as fixes for a number of Missions.

  • Special Operations: Fix for an issue where a player would see no objective after retrying a mission after spectating (Operation Paladin)

  • CDL: Fix for rulesets in Search and Destroy where Field Upgrades were disabled

  • Fix for an exploit where players could duplicate their killstreaks (“Fix for various exploits”)

  • Fix for the “Blue V” Optic challenge not displaying the proper text description

  • Fix misspelling of “trophy”

Ground War:

  • Fixed a bug that could cause the filter on the respawn selection screen to stay on screen when spawning back in

  • Fix for an issue where the Select Loadout screen would keep reappearing after already selecting a loadout and attempting to spawn back in
