Epic has added a new weapon/tool to Fortnite’s arsenal in the form of a Harpoon as part of the v11.10 update (Epic didn’t release any patch notes for this update).
The Harpoon has a couple of uses. Firstly, it can be used to hook in enemies (think Scorpion in Mortal Kombat) and when you hook an enemy you’ll also grace them with 75 damage. The second use is for hooking fish from the lakes and items from the floor – I can’t help but think they got this idea from streamer Tfue after his latest antics with the fishing rod:
You should think of the Harpoon as an upgraded fishing rod, because it does all of the same things but better. It also deals around 150 damage to structures.
Since there’s no official patch notes for the Harpoon, what I’m about to say is pure speculation, but apparently the gun can be found in chests, supply drops, and on the floor, and can be used up to 10 times before it’s done. In terms of reload time, the Harpoon clocks in at 1.4 seconds.
Elsewhere in Fortnite’s v11.10 update, we have also noticed the following changes:
- The weapon upgrade bench appears to have had its spawn rate increased from 75% to 100%, which means you can drop directly at any weapon bench and it will be there
- The Halloween event has been removed, along with the Rocket Launcher, Zombies/Fiends, and Halloween Decorations
They’re the only changes we’ve spotted in the game since v11.10, but we’re sure there were also plenty of bug fixes and game tweaks. Have you spotted anything? Let us know in the comments and we’ll get them added to the list!
