Axiom Verge 2 announced for Nintendo Switch

Axiom Verge 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2015 metroidvania title Axiom Verge, has been announced, and it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch next year.

Announced during Nintendo’s Indie World livestream earlier today, Axiom Verge 2 will arrive on Ninty’s console in Fall 2020. According to the games official website, Axiom Verge 2 is part of the same story as the original Axiom Verge, but is a completely new game, featuring “new characters, new powers, new enemies, and a new world.” The order in which you play the games doesn’t matter, meaning you could play Axiom Verge 2 either before or after the original without being confused.

Developed by indie developer Thomas Happ, the original Axiom Verge launched on PS4 in 2015 before making its way to PC, Wii U, Xbox One, and eventually the Nintendo Switch in 2017. Although the sequel has only been announced for Nintendo Switch for now, the games website does advise players to “stay tuned to learn about additional platforms”, which would suggest that the game will be coming to the likes of Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles too.

Axiom Verge will launch for the Nintendo Switch in Fall 2020. As always, we’ll keep you updated as and when any information about further platforms becomes available.
