Apex Legends Season 1 starts tomorrow

Respawn Entertainment has announced that Season 1 of Apex Legends will start tomorrow, bringing with it the games first battle pass.

The battle pass will be available to buy for 950 Apex Coins (about £8), giving players the chance to unlock numerous cosmetic items for a variety of characters, such as banners, poses, and skins, as well as skins for a number of weapons. If you want to get a head start on your progression then you can buy a different version of the battle pass that costs 2,800 Apex Coins, automatically unlocking the first 25 levels.

The battle pass will be available to buy for the entirety of Season 1, and don’t forget that buying it further down the line won’t leave you lagging behind – all players will be gaining XP towards their battle pass levels whether they own the pass or not; purchasing the pass later on will automatically unlock all of the rewards that you’ve earned up to that point.

Season 1 also marks the introduction of the games first new Legend. He’s called Octane, and he enters the games with metal legs having had both of his legs blown off in a “record-breaking gauntlet speed-run”. He has an ability called Adrenaline Junkie that “lets him trade health for speed”, and he also possesses an “endless supply of Stim health regeneration”. His ultimate ability is called Launch Pad, allowing him and his squad to “fly through the air with the greatest of ease”.

Octane was accidentally leaked on the Origin store last week, so his addition doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, but this is the first time we have had official word on his introduction. I have to say, he does look pretty cool.

Apex Legends Season 1 begins at 10am PT/1pm ET/5pm GMT tomorrow, Tuesday 19th March. You can download the game for free on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
