Apex Legends is getting a Duos mode next week

Get in touch with your best gaming buddy, get your trigger fingers ready, and prepare to drop – Apex Legends is finally getting a Duos mode next week, Respawn Entertainment has announced.

The mode was confirmed on Twitter earlier today. It starts on Tuesday 5th November, but it’s only for a “limited time”, although we don’t know how long for.

The news has been met with much pleasure by players, who have been asking Respawn to add a Duos mode for quite some time. Apex Legends has been strictly squads of three for a long time, but it can sometimes be difficult to get a group of three together for a game and a lot of people don’t like to queue with random players. Giving players the option of playing in teams of two seems like a logical option as it gives players more choice over how they play the game, and I can’t see how it would negatively affect the gameplay.

The disappointing thing, of course, is that the mode is for a limited time only. I’m sure that Respawn will be keeping an eye out on how players react to the mode once it’s live, and hopefully a positive reception may just encourage them to implement it on a permanent basis. Duo modes are popular in other battle royale games such as Fortnite and Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, so it would be great to see Apex Legends have one on a full-time basis.

Apex Legends’ Duos mode launches for a limited time on Tuesday 5th November.
