A remastered Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will release next week

If you missed out on the original Borderlands the first time around (2009!) but you’ve been watching the Borderlands 3 news roll in and wondering what all of the bloody fuss is about then I have some good news for you – you’ll soon be able to check it out for yourself on the current generation of console.

Yep, that’s right, Gearbox has announced Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, a remastered version of the original Borderlands game. It’s coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and to make things even better it’s releasing next week on Wednesday 3rd April!

The remaster will be bundled with all four of the games DLC’s, namely The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution. The visuals are also being given a good sprucing up, with improved lighting, textures, and character models included, and players who are using a PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, or a PC with such capabilities will benefit from 4K resolution and HDR lighting.

You’ll be able to play the Game of the Year Edition with friends in up to four player co-op, and there will be a number of quality of life changes too, including a new Borderlands 2-esque minimap, improved customization options, and an update to the games final boss, which Gearbox promises will now be “more engaging, challenging, and rewarding”. There will also be more weapons in the remastered version, with the trailer promising “bazillions of guns” to play with.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Wednesday 3rd April. The console versions of the game will be available in both physical and digital form, while the PC version will only be available digitally.
