A new Dragon Ball action RPG game is on the horizon

Bandai Namco has revealed that there is a new Dragon Ball game inbound in the form of an action RPG which has been codenamed Project Z.

Bandai Namco hasn’t released many details on the game yet, other than the short announcement trailer below, but we do know that the game will be centered around telling Goku’s story. Most Dragon Ball fans will, of course, already know Goku’s story, so maybe this is an attempt to pull a new generation of fans into the Dragon Ball franchise.

The announcement trailer above doesn’t give too much away either, but there does appear to be some snippets of gameplay where you see Goku walking around various beautiful environments (skip to 1:45); if the game does indeed have these graphics at launch, they can take my money. We also know that the game is set to launch on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One (no news of a Switch version) and it’s being developed by CyberConnect2, who were the developers behind the hit Naruto Shippuden series. Other than that there’s not much else to tell.

No release date has been set yet, but it’s most likely not going to be launching for many months yet. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more information.

In other news, six more DLC characters are soon to be added to Dragon Ball FighterZ. These include Jiren and Videl, who will appear in the game this week (Jan 31st). The other characters joining the roster are Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta and Broly, who will follow “soon” (our best guess is in 2 – 3 weeks) and two other fighters who have not yet been announced.
