Resident Evil 2 Remake demo is coming and it lasts just 30 minutes

Players who are eager to get their hands on Resident Evil 2 Remake will be able to do just that from January 11th, but they’ll only be able to do so for half an hour.

Yes, Capcom has announced that they’re releasing a “1-Shot Demo” for the remastered version of their classic horror game, and it’s going to have a 30-minute time limit. That means (for those of us who don’t understand time) that you will only be able to play the demo for 30 minutes and then you’re done, finished, kaput. There will be no second chances or second playthroughs, so use your 30 minutes wisely. Thankfully, it won’t be game over if you die or complete the mission objective, you’ll only be locked out of the demo when your 30 minutes has passed. The demo will feature Resident Evil regular Leon Kennedy as a playable character.

It seems a very strange decision to put a 30-minute time limit on a demo like this, but I guess you could argue that it will keep fans chomping at the bit to experience the full game. Speaking about the demo, Capcom said:

“Play quickly and carefully if you want to see the end of the demo, and be sure to pick up any useful items you see laying around while conserving your ammo. It may be tempting to try and defeat every zombie that stands, or crawls, in your way, but sometimes it’s better to use a few bullets to make an escape route than empty a clip on a monster that refuses to stay dead.”

It’s not all going to be limited though – the demo will also feature a new cinematic trailer for the game that’s exclusive to the demo, and you can watch it as many times as you want without any kind of restrictions or limitations. How generous.

The Resident Evil 2 Remake demo will become available on January 11th ahead of the full game release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on January 25th.
