The latest free game available via the Epic Games Store has been revealed. Adventure game What Remains of Edith Finch will become the third freebie to grace the store.
It follows the pledge by Epic to provide gamers with a free title every two weeks. Ocean survival game Subnautica and platformer Super Meat Boy were the first to be offered, with the latter still available now until January 10th, after which it will be replaced by Giant Sparrow’s What Remains of Edith Finch, which will be available until January 25th.
What Remains of Edith Finch follows the story of the character Edith Finch (surprisingly). Edith is the last in the family bloodline which is thought to be cursed, causing all but one family member of each generation to die in unusual ways. Edith returns home following the death of her mother to explore the family home. The game takes you through the dramatic retelling of the family’s history, where players visit bedroom shrines of family members.
The game received a very positive reception at launch, with particular praise being given to it’s story and presentation throughout.
The Epic Game Store has, so far, not disappointed in it’s promise of freebies. Just like the two free games prior, What Remains of Edith Finch is a must-play, especially for free. Just make sure you do so before January 25th.
