Like World Of Warcraft Classic, Blizzard has been inundated with requests from fans to remake the 16-year-old Warcraft 3. Whispers of a remake of the hugely popular real-time strategy game have been long-rumoured, and finally, at BlizzCon today the remake has been confirmed.
Blizzard has titled the game Warcraft 3: Reforged, and has set a release date for PC in 2019. Reforged will feature a complete upgrade over the original; with fully remodelled characters, remastered maps and campaign levels, an upgraded UI, 4K resolution support and it will also bring back the much-loved World Editor tool, meaning that mods will almost certainly be included.
Multiplayer will also be enhanced, with gameplay improvements, hundreds of balance changes and a revamped matchmaking system, befitting of the times.
A playable demo of the game is available for BlizzCon attendees. The demo includes the “Cull of Stratholme” mission, which should give those lucky enough to preview the game a good indication of how the improvements are coming along
We’re hugely excited here at BuffNerfRepeat to hear of this announcement. Warcraft 3 has often been a game we revisit when nostalgia calls, and we can’t wait to get our hands on the Reforged version.
If, like us, you can’t wait either, check out both the cinematic trailer and gameplay teaser below.
Blizzard also announced that pre-orders for the game are live now, including for the Spoils Edition, which unlocks special items in other Blizzard games. One featured item was the Meat Wagon mount for World of Warcraft, which is a fully operational catapult.
