Attention all city builders, the excellent Cities: Skylines on the PC is getting another expansion, and this one is going to focus on the Industry side of things. Unsurprisingly then, it’s called Cities: Skylines Industries, and it’s going to debut on October 23rd.
The expansion will add a whole host of new Industry related features, such as the ability to “Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product”. The expansion will also add new industrial buildings such as Extractors, Warehouse Facilities, Processing and Auxiliary Buildings. Not only that but it will also allow you to “manage traffic and logistics with industry warehouses and the use of the new Cargo Services including a cargo airport”.
If that’s not enough for you, the expansion will also add “mail delivery and collection services”, including post sorting facilities and post offices as well as new Post Van and Truck vehicles, meaning you can finally show Royal Mail how it’s done. There will also be new Industry Policies and City-wide Policies including the likes of “Workers’ Union, Sorting, Wi-Fi, Logistics, Work Safety and Automation”. You’ll also have five new maps to build your dream city on, and there will be four new hats for the in-game mascot and social media source Chirper! Exciting times.
Cities: Skylines will also get a free update that will coincide with the Industries expansion. This free update will add the ability to mark zoned buildings as historical and it will add toll roads, allowing you to generate some extra money for your city at the expense of slowing down traffic.

Cities: Skylines is the game that SimCity (2013) should have been, so if you’re a fan of city-building sims and you haven’t played Cities yet then we highly recommend it.
