Destiny’s highly anticipated third expansion is just around the corner (4th September) and one of the more interesting additions of the expansion – ‘Gambit’ – will be free to play a few days before release (1st September) for 24 hours. If you don’t know what Gambit is, from what we know so far it seems to be a 4v4 hybrid mode, which means it’s a mix of PvP and PvE content – Bungie can describe it better than us:
“A 4v4 hybrid mode that merges PvE and PvP experiences into an epic battle. It’s a new way to play Destiny 2, offering something for all players to enjoy, appealing to those who thrive on the competition and unpredictable elements of PvP gameplay, while seamlessly blending the collaborative and cooperative elements of PvE.”
We’re happy that Bungie hasn’t jumped on the Battle Royale hype train and are instead trying something completely different, even bungie have said themselves ‘Gambit is it’s own thing, don’t even compare it to anything else you find in Destiny 2, because it isn’t like anything currently in Destiny 2’ and honestly, it looks really fun – checkout the trailer below:
Some lucky reviewers and game sites have already managed to get their hands on it and overall it’s had very positive reactions. We haven’t picked up our copy of Destiny 2 for a while now; maybe it’s time to dust it off and give it another whirl.
Although this new mode does sound great, we have been told that you will need to own the prior DLC in order to be able to play it i.e. you can’t just buy the latest DLC and play the new Gambit mode – we’re waiting to hear confirmation from Bungie as to whether this is true or not – we’ll keep you updated.
