Call of Duty: WWII’s Final DLC Pack Detailed

With Black Ops 4 just around the corner (check out our beta impressions here), the fourth and final DLC pack for last years entry—Call of Duty: WWII—has just been announced by Sledgehammer Games and Activision.

The DLC pack will be called Shadow War and will add three new competitive multiplayer maps. The first map is called Airship and is set in the alps where players will fight for control of a docked zeppelin, the second map will be called Chancellery and will be set in a…well….chancellery (expect players to fight for control of the main courtyard) and the third map will be called Excavation which will be set in an Algerian mine.

There will also be a new War Mode mission added—Operation Arcane—which will see the Allied forces invade a Nazi research facility in the Austrian mountains; the Allies will be tasked with stealing some top secret plans and destroying whatever’s left in “a hangar full of UFO’s”. Players will be able to take control of a Tesla gun and also inject themselves with some form of super soldier serum which will give the player a temporary buff. It sounds both mental and brilliant and, frankly, sounds like something straight out of the Wolfenstein series.

Elsewhere, Shadow War will also add the final chapter of Call of Duty: WWII’s Nazi Zombie series. Sledgehammer Games have promised that the final chapter—titled The Frozen Dawn—will feature “some of the most powerful weapons in the history of wonder weapons.”

In other great news, the Shadow War DLC pack can be played even if you don’t own the bloody thing. Season Pass owners can create an in-game party as the party leader and invite their friends to it, allowing said friends to play on the three new competitive multiplayer maps and the new War Mode mission in Shadow War between August 28th and October 28th without buying the DLC themselves. Can’t grumble at that, can you?

The Call of Duty: World War II Shadow War DLC launches on PlayStation 4 on August 28th. There is no official date for the PC or Xbox One launch yet, but expect it to be around a month later.
