Yep, it’s finally confirmed, Diablo III will become the first Blizzard game to release on a Nintendo platform for 15 years.
Following on from a teasing tweet from Blizzard earlier this year to whet the appetite and get tongues wagging, the internet went into further overdrive yesterday when Forbes dropped a bollock and seemingly confirmed the news on their website before deleting the article.
But now, we have an official announcement from Blizzard themselves. Diablo III on the Nintendo Switch will be called The Eternal Collection and will include the original game, the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansion packs and all content updates so far. The game will be playable with up to four players together on a single console, up to four players on four difference consoles connected wirelessly, or online when the Nintendo Switch Online Service launches in September; the game can even be played offline, with progress being uploaded the next time your Switch goes online. The game can be played either docked or handheld. Diablo III on-the-go? Yes please.
As a special treat (seeing as Nintendo players have only had to wait for six years to get their hands on Diablo III), the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo III will feature Legend of Zelda related exclusive in-game bonuses, such as the Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armour set, a Tri-Force portrait frame, a chicken pet and Echoes of the Mask cosmetic wings.
It’s great news for Nintendo players that a Blizzard game is finally coming to Nintendo again, and they will surely be hoping that more will follow. Overwatch, anyone?
Diablo III: The Eternal Collection is scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch later this year.
