A new Darksiders game is on the way! Darksiders Genesis will see the series change direction for the first time, this time coming to us in the form of a Diablo-esque top-down action roleplayer. The game will be developed by Airship Syndicate, who most recently brought us an excellent example of a retro JRPG with Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
A brand new horseman of the Apocalypse named Strife will be the star of the show this time around. You can see both Strife and War—who features in the original entry to the series—in the games trailer:
As you can see from the trailer, the gameplay offers the same intense, high-octane combat we’ve come to expect from games in this genre. It will also feature “exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell”, according to Publisher THQ Nordic.
It’s also been confirmed that Darksiders Genesis will be available for Google’s Stadia game streaming service, and is in fact one of the first games confirmed on the platform.
As well as Google Stadia, Darksiders Genesis will be gracing the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam some point later this year. No exact release date or pre-order information has yet been detailed, but the game is set to be playable at E3 later this week, so you can expect to hear more information about the title then.
