The Exotic Marksman Rifle, ‘Nemesis’, was introduced into The Division 2 last week. Disappointingly, some of the parts needed to craft it only dropped from Invaded Missions that were unavailable at the time. Those missions have rotated in today, meaning Division agents can now get their hands on the games first and only (so far) Exotic Sniper.
Let’s take a look at ‘Nemesis’ and its talents, and then look at how to obtain it.
Talents
Counter-Sniper
Shots fired deal 0-100% weapon damage based on how long the trigger is held before releasing. The time to reach max weapon damage is reduced whenever a shot does not kill an enemy it hits.
Nemesis
Aiming at an enemy marks them as your nemesis for 15s, letting you see them through walls.
Your shots gain +5% damage to your nemesis for each second they are marked, to a max of 50%
Preparation
While holstered, gain +25% headshot damage when scoped with your current weapon.
As you can see, ‘Nemesis’ has some of the most unique talents in the game so far. Counter-Sniper adds a whole new gameplay style to sniping, while Nemesis adds an excellent damage buff and visual marker when attacking. For me, however, the best talent is Preparation, which adds a huge 25% headshot damage when scoped to your current weapon when the ‘Nemesis’ rifle is holstered. The chatter-box SMG was previously the go-to holstered weapon, so it’s great to now have some variation.
So, how do you obtain this awesome Sniper Rifle, I hear you ask? The good news is that it isn’t difficult at all, and doesn’t require too much good fortune. The bad news is that some of the parts will be locked away until weekly rotations, meaning if you haven’t got any parts yet, you’re going to have to wait.
Step One
You will need to complete these steps in World Tier 5 – a recent patch now prevents these parts dropping in lower World Tiers.
The first part is arguably the most difficult to explain. Head to the stronghold Tidal Basin (you will need to have completed the stronghold on story mode first before revisiting on any difficulty). Here, you need to collect the “Black Tusk Keycard”, which is a yellow keycard like every other keycard in the game so far.
The Keycard can be found on the first floor of the building, to the right of where you disable the first turret (where you have to shoot the yellow battery). Run up the stairs of that building and you’ll see the keycard glowing yellow – pick it up.
Next, towards the end of Tidal Basin you will enter the giant hovercraft (you will hear it mentioned on the radio to your agent). Once inside the hovercraft, look ahead to a locked room on the left at the end of the cargo hold. The keycard will open the door, and inside the room will be a weapons box – open it for a weapon that needs to be dismantled. Yes, dismantled! This will give you the first part of the ‘Nemesis’ rifle, a Scope part called The Tally.Step Two
This part is a lot more simple. The remaining 3 parts to ‘Nemesis’ can be obtained from drops from the named bosses of each of the three remaining strongholds.
The Barrel part will be found from the end boss of Invaded Capital Hill
The Bolt part will come from the end boss of Invaded Roosevelt Island
The Stock part drops from the end boss of Invaded District Union
You can collect these weapon parts in any order and on any difficulty, but as I mentioned previously, these Invaded Strongholds are not available at the same time, so you will have to wait until rotation to pick up some of the parts. The Division 2 resets on Thursday mornings in Europe.
Step Three
Now you have the four weapon parts, you will need the ‘Nemesis’ Blueprint to craft the Sniper Rifle. Head to the Invaded Grand Washington Hotel mission (Again, you may need to wait for this mission to be available in Invaded form).
Here, you need to kill the first named boss that you encounter called Puck. Puck drops the final thing that you need for your Sniper, the Blueprint.
Step Four
Now you have everything, you need to craft ‘Nemesis’, so head to the base of operations (The White House) and to the crafting table to craft it.
Congratulations! You now own ‘Nemesis’.
When you craft ‘Nemesis’, you will notice that it crafts at gear score level 490 and not 500. To increase its level, you will need to head to the vendor in the base of operations and pick up the upgraded blueprint.
Once you have the gear score 500 blueprint you can craft it again, providing you have all the materials needed. Exotic parts can be found from dismantling exotic weapons, just don’t dismantle your 490 gear score ‘Nemesis’ as you need that too!
If you’d like to know how I rate the Nemesis compared to the other MMR’s in the The Division 2, then check out my top 5 list here.
‘Nemesis’ is a great weapon to own and one that’s well worth effort needed to obtain it. If I’ve missed any key information out then please let me know in the comments section below, and if you’re enjoying the sniper let me know that too!
