The fantastically named Team Meat—which sounds like the collective name for a group of lads on a stag do if I’ve ever heard one—has announced that Super Meat Boy Forever has been delayed, and will therefore miss its release window of April 2019.
The sequel to 2010’s Super Meat Boy, Super Meat Boy Forever—which was originally envisioned to be nothing more than a mobile game—is an auto-runner where players only need to use 2 buttons to navigate their way through procedurally generated levels. It’s now coming to the Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC as well as mobiles.
Team Meat announced the news of the delay on Twitter:

There’s one comment in that statement that intrigues me – “We could have sacrificed our minds, bodies, and social lives to make April 2019 but that’s stupid. Team Meat isn’t some studio owned by an Evil Asshat corporation that has say over what we do and how we do it. We are fortunate enough to have control over how we work and we choose not to run ourselves into the ground” – is that possibly a sly dig at the likes of BioWare? Sorry, I’ll put my big wooden spoon away.
Team Meat says that despite the delay they are close to completing the game, so players shouldn’t expect it to be too long of a delay. They promise that the next trailer for the game will include a concrete release date for the game, but until then the release date will remain as “after but not too far after April 2019”. It’s nice to see someone have a sense of humour, isn’t it?
Super Meat Boy Forever will launch on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.
