World War Z developers have revealed a post-launch content roadmap

Following on from a chart topping launch, World War Z developers Saber Interactive has released a post-launch content roadmap which details the various free updates we can expect to see in the game in the near future. The first batch of content, which Saber calls ‘Season 1’, includes a new mission, new skins, game modes and more.

The first addition will be a new Tokyo mission, which is expected to launch in May. If you didn’t notice when playing the game, Tokyo only launched with two missions, while the other locations launched with three missions, so this will bring Tokyo in line with the others. It’s possible that there were issues with this mission prior to launch and it was removed from the game, or maybe it just wasn’t ready, but either way it’s coming soon. The May update will also include a new Zombie which “spits a deadly virus and can resurrect if not properly dispatched”, which sounds pretty similar to the Hazmat zombie?

In June, a new “six-skull’ difficulty will be released, which will come with its own unique reward and cosmetic items that are only available in this difficulty.

July will bring a new ‘Weekly Challenge’ mode, cosmetics and more. There’s also a mention of new weapons in the infographic above, but we’re not sure which month’s update these will be coming in.

As well as the items listed in the roadmap above, Saber Interative has also said they are working on the following features:

  • Private lobbies
  • Wave-based survival mode
  • Class switching in PvPvZ
  • Field of view and detail sliders for PC

There’s no ETA on the above features yet, but personally I can’t wait to get my hands on the wave-based survival mode.
