Blizzard has unveiled Sigma as the latest hero to join the cast of Overwatch.
No, I’m not talking about the British drum and bass DJ duo Sigma, I’m talking about the “eccentric astrophysicist” Sigma. In his origin story, Sigma is introduced as a scientist experimenting with gravity as he tries to harness the power of a black hole. As always with things of this nature, the experiment quickly goes tits up and Sigma ends up in hospital, haunted by equations and a creepy melody. Check it out below:
As you can see, the word ‘hero’ isn’t the ideal word to describe Sigma, as he is now a member of the terrorist group Talon, so ‘villain’ would be more appropriate. Regardless, the mad scientist will be Overwatch’s 31st playable hero, and it will be very interesting to see what his kit will consist of and what abilities he will have. As always, we’ll keep you updated as and when any more information becomes available about Sigma’s abilities or when he’ll get his introduction into the game.
Sigma’s reveal comes just a few days after Blizzard revealed that they would be introducing a role queue system to the game in the near future, something which players have been crying out for for a while now. Indeed, it’s an exciting time to be an Overwatch fan.
