Episode 2 of Life Is Strange 2 will finally release in January

If you’re a fan of episodic video games then the chances are that you’re fully invested in Life Is Strange 2. You’ll be glad to hear then, that Episode 2 of Life Is Strange 2 will finally see the light of day in January 2019.

The news came by way of a blog post by the Life Is Strange Team, in which they acknowledged fans frustrations about how long they’ve been waiting for Episode 2. Indeed, by the time that Episode 2 drops, it will have been four months since Episode 1 debuted. The blog post reads:

“The Life is Strange series is a project close to all of our hearts and one for which we do not want to rush development and thereby fail to meet the benchmark of quality and emotional impact that you, our players, deserve. This is why we so far have not announced an official release date – we want to ensure that we will be in a position to release something that we are proud of and that you will enjoy and remember forever.

We understand that there are certain expectations that episodes will be released at a similar cadence as previous Life is Strange games have. The ambition of Life is Strange 2, however, means that the previous frameworks no longer apply if we are to meet the quality of play and storytelling that our vision for a game like this demands and that you deserve.”

This is a difficult one for me to pick a side of the argument. On the one hand I’m quite vocal about games being released unfinished or below par because they’ve been rushed out, preferring instead to wait longer and get a more complete, polished experience, but I can’t help but feel like four months between episodes is too long for an episodic video game. The blog post went on to confirm that more details about Episode 2 will be released in mid-December. Hopefully the team will manage to get future episodes out a bit quicker without having to sacrifice on quality.

Episode 2 of Life Is Strange 2 will be available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
