I’m lost for words, I don’t even know what to say right now. Bethesda and id Software have—as promised—unveiled gameplay footage for Doom Eternal at QuakeCon 2018, and it looks just as mindlessly violent and balls to the wall as you’d expect.
Doom Eternal—the sequel to 2016’s Doom reboot—will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. Yes, you read that right, Nintendo Switch. Will it be the most violent, gruesome, not-family-friendly-whatsoever game to feature on a Nintendo console? Yeah, absolutely.
I could sit here and talk to you about Super Shotguns, spearing demons with explosive hooks, shooting off layers of demon flesh and even the fact that you can now take control of a demon and invade somebody else’s campaign (yes, seriously) for the next half hour, but where’s the fun in that? That’s not the Doom way. Doom isn’t about reading lines of text, that’s all too sensible. Instead, you’re much better just watching the gameplay footage yourself, aren’t you? Make sure your parents aren’t in the room though, or anyone else who will judge you for cheering as you watch a demon get stabbed through the head.
The gameplay reveal is below and goes on for a whopping 25 minutes, so clear some space in your diary and watch the most glorious, testosterone-fueled mayhem you’re likely to see all year.
