Descent of Dragons will be Hearthstone’s next Expansion

A new expansion is heading to Hearthstone, as announced today at BlizzCon. Descent of Dragons will conclude the story of the battle between the League of E.V.I.L. and the League of Explorers.

“Descent of Dragons takes the fight between the League of E.V.I.L. and the League of Explorers to the skies above Dragonblight, where the final phase of Rafaam’s arch-villainous plot is underway.”

Check out the trailer below:

Descent of Dragons will launch on December 10th and will feature “more dragons than has been in any set before”, as well as a load of new cards and new game mechanics. One of those many dragons will be the dragon to end all dragons, Galakrond.

Galakrond will be available for free to all the E.V.I.L. classes—i.e. Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. Each version of Galakrond will feature a different Battlecry and Hero Power, which will grow in strength with new Keyword: Invoke.

Invoke works by empowering Galakrond to a second and third form. Each form will increase the strength of the card as can be seen with the Rogue example below:

Sidequests for Hearthstone will also be introduced. ‘Heroes and villains alike have long embarked on lengthy Quests to uncover hidden relics and substantial powers.’

These sidequests will be available to Mages, Druids, Hunters, and Paladins, and are similar to normal quests but easier to complete.

Pre-purchasing for Descent of Dragons is available now.

The Descent of Dragons Mega Bundle will contain: 100 Descent of Dragons card packs, the Deathwing Warrior Hero, the Shattering Card Back, a random Descent of Dragons Golden Legendary card, and early access to the Battlegrounds game mode. The smaller (and cheaper) Descent of Dragons Bundle, meanwhile, will contain: 60 Descent of Dragons card packs, the Shattering Card Back, a random Descent of Dragons Golden Legendary card, and early access to the Battlegrounds game mode.
