Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update fixes Piccadilly and more

Infinity Ward has released an update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which fixes the Piccadilly map, which is arguably the worst map in the game right now (I actually like it, but I think that’s because I’m from the UK and it’s always nice seeing a game set in London). Anyway, the issues which everyone has been moaning about have been fixed along with a few other things. Read on for more:

Piccadilly:

  • Spawn tuning while playing TDM and Domination

  • Domination flag adjustments; B Flag is now near the busses instead of the center fountain

As mentioned previously and in this posts title, Infinity Ward has ‘fixed’ the Piccadilly map for both TDM and Domination. Their fix was to simply move point B (which was a nightmare to capture) and to adjust the spawn locations, which should stop everyone moaning. Chris pointed out the issue regarding the B flag in our review of the game, saying:

“Some of the maps have balance issues; when playing Domination on Piccadilly, for example, the C and B flags are insanely close to each other, while the A flag is a fair distance away. This gives the team that spawns at C an immediate advantage and control of the map”.

Footsteps

  • Adjusted to always play walk footstep sounds when in ADS and crouch independent of speed

  • Increased the speed in which you can remain using the walk footstep sounds by slightly pressing on the movement stick

This is the second biggest change in the update, and in my opinion the best. Before the update if you moved too fast while crouching or looking down sights (ADS) your footsteps sounds would increase to ‘jogging’ sounds, which are obviously picked up easier by enemies. Post-update, no matter how far you push your joystick forwards your footstep sounds will always remain as ‘walking’.

They’re the two main changes in this update but there were a few other smaller changes which are listed below, including yet another nerf for the 725:

GENERAL FIXES:

  • More backend fixes to prevent crashes and improve stability across all modes and all platforms

Riot Shield:

  • Fix for a bug where a player using the Riot Shield would not take explosive damage during certain situations

  • Fixed an issue where the Riot Shield would stow on the players back when using Stim. (Tactical)

Challenges

  • General fix for the UI and Challenge state getting out of sync. We’ll continue to monitor and make additional fixes as needed in future updates

  • Fix for a challenge related error that could occur; DEV ERROR 5476

  • Fix for Mission Challenge description, “Get Kills with a Burst Weapons” being too vague.

Weapons:

  • ARs: Minor hip spread adjustment

  • 725: Reduce range

  • M4: increase hip spread, decrease damage to the head

  • FAL: Reduced recoil, increased ADS speed

  • EB-14: Increase ADS speed

  • Miscellaneous ammo reserve adjustments upon spawning to be in-line with other weapons of their class

Special Operations:

  • Fix for a bug where a player using the Overkill perk with an SMG as their secondary would sometimes spawn without a primary weapon when joining a match in progress
