The first campaign add-on for Borderlands 3 will be called Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, and it launches on Thursday 19th December, Gearbox Software has announced.
As the title of the add-on suggests, the new content will revolve around players joining Moxxi’s crew as she attempts to perform a heist on Handsome Jack’s derelict space-casino, which Gearbox describes as a “glitzy casino matching the massive ego of its now-deceased owner”. Players will have to battle through “Hyperion security forces and crazed casino-goers” in an effort to “reach a safe loaded with Eridium, cash, and all-new Legendary loot”.
To get access to the new content players will need to have played through enough of the games main story to have access to Sanctuary III. Enemies and loot will both scale to your Vault Hunter’s level though, so the heist missions and new Crew Challenges should be both difficult and rewarding no matter what level you are. The casino will also feature “never-before-seen enemies and larger-than-life bosses” and will be loaded with loot, including new Legendary weapons and gear, Vault Hunter Heads & Skins, Weapon Trinkets, an ECHO Device Skin, and new Emotes.
The update is premium DLC, which means it will be instantly available to anybody who owns the Season Pass or the Super Deluxe Edition of Borderlands 3. I would presume that anybody who doesn’t own either of those will still be able to buy the content individually, but Gearbox hasn’t revealed any details on that front yet.
