BioWare has been dropping hints that a new Dragon Age game was in the works, and now at the Game Awards 2018 they have finally confirmed it. They also announced via the hashtag #DreadWolfRises that the ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ legend ‘Solas’ will be making a return.
BioWare has obviously had their hands full recently with the upcoming release of Anthem which led to Dragon Age being put on the back burner, but it’s been fairly obvious for a while that a new Dragon Age game was in the works. It’s one of their most popular IP’s ever, there’s no way that they would miss out on the opportunity and they now confirmed that a Dragon Age game will be their next release after after Anthem has launched.
That being said, don’t get too excited just yet, the next installment of the epic RPG is still at least two years away – as if we haven’t been waiting long enough already.
Mark Darrah explained on the BioWare blog that they “have been working on a new Dragon Age game for quite a while now and I am pleased to finally tease the existence of this project!”
He continued with “While we won’t be sharing any details for now, I can tell you we have been building a new team around a core of Dragon Age veterans, people I’ve worked with on Dragon Age, Jade Empire, and some of whom I’ve worked with since the Baldur’s Gate days.”
BioWare’s Matthew Goldman, who is the new creative director for the Dragon Age series seemed, to have a pop at the upcoming Anthem game by saying “Now, I’m honored and excited to continue BioWare’s rich legacy of colorful companions, romance and epic choices in my favorite fantasy franchise.”. Anthem, of course, doesn’t have romance, big choices or companions.
Matthew also said “We’ve gathered our strongest team yet and are venturing forth on the most epic quest ever!”, which just makes me even more excited, but alas we still have at least another two years to wait before we can get our grubby gamer mitts on it.
