You can grab The Sims 4 for free on PC for a limited time

Oh how I bloody love a freebie – The Sims 4 is currently free to download until Tuesday 28th May.

The Sims 4 is fast approaching five years old, and Maxis and Electronic Arts have obviously realized that their pathway to earning more money from the game lies with the numerous expansions, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs rather than the base game. Gamers can now use that to their advantage, with the base game now available to download and keep through Origin.

The Sims 4 received mixed reviews when it released back in 2014, with criticisms largely aimed at its lack of content and core features from previous installments. A lot of those drawbacks have since been corrected through free updates, and the game has always had fantastic building and creation tools, so the base game alone is now a very full and worthwhile experience and you’ll get plenty of life out of it even if you don’t want to spend a penny on expansions.

If you do want to expand on your Sims 4 universe then there are 6 expansions packs and tonnes of Stuff or Game Packs to buy, adding things like pets and seasons to the game. Adding to your experience is no cheap deal though – each expansion pack will cost you £34.99, with Game Packs and Stuff Packs costing £17.99 and £9.99 each respectively. Don’t feel like it’s necessary to spend money if you don’t want to though, you will get plenty of joy from the base game alone, and you won’t have to spend any money to do so!

The Sims 4 is available to download and keep right now until Tuesday 28th May.
