Zelda-themed Link wired controller for the Nintendo Switch – 25% off at Argos.
If you’re picking up a Nintendo Switch for Christmas—or if you’re fortunate to be gifted one—then you’re going to want an extra controller. The official Joy-Cons that are included with the console are great for small hands and gimmicky game sessions, but for a prolonged session with Mario something more practical is a must.
Your options are fairly straight forward: an Official Pro Controller or a Wired Controller. The main differences here are the price and the wire. The Pro Controller costs around £54.99 and is the better controller – it features motion controls, HD rumble and built-in amiibo functionality. The price tag is pretty steep however, and for multiplayer games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. you might well be better off buying the cheaper alternative.
The officially licensed Nintendo Wired Controllers are decent value. The one featured in this deal is a steal at £17.99, especially when compared to the £54.99 price tag of the Pro Controller. We can’t fault the way these controllers handle for the price, even the wire can at times be convenient, eliminating the need for charging or annoying stoppages in play. In fact, many professional gamers will only use a wired controller, especially when playing games like Smash Bros. that require fast reactions. The thought process here is that a wireless controller will have slight input lag over it’s wired counterpart.
It’s also worth noting that you’re going to have to switch to a controller with motion controls for the tilt challenges in the shrines featured in Zelda. This could, of course, be the Joy-Cons.
Whatever you decide to use, we still think this controller is worth picking up at this price, especially if you’re playing some multiplayer action over the festive period! Happy gaming.
